Kura 'The Whisky' is a pure malt whisky from Helios Distillery in Nago City, Okinawa, bottled at 40% ABV. Helios was founded in 1961 by Tadashi Matsuda, began with rum and awamori, and moved into whisky in the late 1990s.
Pale gold with a straw tint, it has a nose of heather honey and yuzu, with floral notes, toasted oak and a touch of moss.
The palate is smooth and creamy, with butterscotch, vanilla, Japanese citrus, brown sugar and a hint of lime marmalade. The finish is long and refreshing, with caramel, tropical fruit and a touch of bitter grape.
