High Coast – Solera 02 (50cl, 56%)

High Coast Solera 02 is a Swedish single malt bottled at 56% in a 50cl bottle. It comes from a distillery that runs a true solera system, which is rare among whisky distilleries. The system has six tiers. At the bottom are 225-litre solera casks of Swedish oak, from which the whisky is drawn for bottling. Above them sit five tiers of bourbon casks holding 200 litres of whisky of differing ages, with the youngest on top. Each tier is refilled from the one above after bottling, so every release contains a little of the very first filling.
