The Old Confectioner's is a Scotch whisky from House of Hazelwood, bottled at 46.3% in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to the Legacy series, which pays tribute to characterful profiles from the past, and it is drawn from the Gordon family's private stock. Malt, grain and wood were chosen to give a soft, fruit-led profile built around butterscotch, toffee and dried fruit, with some bitterness and spice for contrast. The nose offers golden syrup, soft fudge, toasted pecan and barley sugar, with aged oak, citrus peel and a trace of dried mint. On the palate come toffee, candied orange, almond brittle and stewed fruit, with a soft tannic grip. The finish is warm and lasting, with honeycomb, clove and dried fig.
