The Spirit of Scotland is a 46 year old double-matured blended Scotch, first created in 1994 to mark the 500th anniversary of the oldest recorded reference to Scotch whisky, in the 1494 Exchequer rolls. It then spent a further 28 years in American oak hogsheads.
It is bottled at 43.6% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill filtered and free from added colour, and comes in a hand-labelled, individually numbered decanter.
The nose brings syrup, treacle and baking aromas alongside old books and manuscript paper. The palate has a hint of smoke and bright lemon pie, with a long, smooth finish.
