Hyde No. 4 1922 is an Irish single malt, triple distilled and matured first in ex-bourbon casks. It was then moved into Caribbean rum casks for a finish. It is bottled at 46% ABV without chill-filtration, in an edition of 5,000 bottles.
The year 1922 on the label refers to the founding of the Irish Free State. Hyde is named after Douglas Hyde, the first president of Ireland.
The nose is light, with pineapple, green mango, underripe banana, vanilla and passion fruit cheesecake. The palate is creamy, with syrup cake, black pepper, baked apple, cinnamon and raisins. The finish is medium, with peppery oak, coffee bean and brown sugar.
