This is a heavily peated Japanese single malt from Chichibu Distillery in Saitama, bottled at cask strength of 53.5% in a 750ml bottle. The release runs to 2,640 bottles and is non-chill-filtered. The whisky is a vatting aged between four and seven years, drawn from new Taransaud T5 French oak, Mizunara hogsheads, sherry casks and chibi daru, a modified hogshead of roughly 40 gallons. It was made from heavily peated malted barley, with fermentation in Mizunara oak washbacks. The nose opens with peat smoke, icing sugar and vanilla sponge, then orange peel, mint and loquat. The palate is fizzing with spice and bourbon-cask sweetness, with clove building towards the middle. The finish is long, nutty and herbal, with warm oak tannins.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
