Idle Hands is a five-year-old bourbon created by Dave Schmier, who is also behind The DC Line, Tumblin' Dice and Roulette Rye, and who made the original Redemption Rye. It follows the 2019 Idle Hands, a New York-only edition of about 219 bottles.
This release blends two batches of thirteen barrels each, with the bourbon aged for five years or more. It was distilled in Indiana from a heavy rye mash bill of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% barley, the same one used for Tumblin' Dice. Schmier worked on the blend with Rob Morton, former owner of the bar, and the strength was chosen to suit Morton's preference. It is bottled at 47.6% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
