James Buchanan's Special Reserve is a blended Scotch whisky made from grain whiskies and single malts, all aged for at least 18 years. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
The Buchanan name has long been known in Scotch, and James Buchanan was an early marketer of blends.
The nose offers chocolate, cocoa and toffee. On the palate come fruit, particularly red plums, with orange and roasted nuts. The finish brings honeyed oak, coffee and citrus.
