James E. Pepper 1776 is a straight bourbon whiskey in a 75cl bottle, bottled at 50% ABV, or 100 proof. It is golden in colour, and a backbone of spicy rye runs beneath its sweeter notes.
The nose offers caramel, toffee and vanilla. On the palate come rich bourbon sweetness, spicy rye, vanilla, honey, cloves and a little chocolate. The finish is fairly short but rich, with lingering sweetness, dusty cinnamon and smoky notes.
It can be taken neat, over ice or in an Old-Fashioned.
