James E. Pepper 1776 Straight Bourbon Whiskey (75cl, 50%)

James E. Pepper 1776 is a straight bourbon bottled at 100 proof in a 75cl bottle. The mash bill is 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley, and the whiskey is aged for three to four years. It is cut to strength and hand bottled at the James E. Pepper distillery, using water from the distillery's limestone well. The 1776 label was launched in 2012 to revive the Pepper family brand, which dates from 1780 and was fondly known as Old '1776' by Colonel James E. Pepper. The tasting notes describe rich bourbon sweetness and rye spice, with vanilla, honey, cloves and chocolate.
