James E. Pepper 1776 Straight Rye Whiskey Barrel Proof is a straight rye from the Georgetown Trading Co., bottled at 57.3% ABV (114.6 proof) in a 75cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered, and the mash bill is over 90% rye.
It is the same whiskey as the 1777 Straight Rye, bottled straight from the barrel.
The nose offers clove and cardamom heat, brown sugar and fresh citrus peel. The palate brings green peppercorn, coconut, cedar, orange, pear drop and a touch of barrel char spice. The finish is woodsy cinnamon, candied peel and caraway.
