John Walker & Sons King George V (70cl)

John Walker & Sons King George V is a limited release blended Scotch in the Johnnie Walker Blue Label line-up, named after the king of the same name. It is made from some of the rarest whiskies, among them Port Ellen, from a distillery that has since closed. The smokiness from Port Ellen is powerful and slow to evolve. The aroma begins smoky, then turns to sweet fresh fruit: apples, pears and bananas. The palate is smooth and richly fruity, with sandalwood and smoke, and the finish is long, with lingering rich peat.
