Johnnie Walker Double Black is a blended Scotch whisky, first released for the travel retail market. It builds on the malty character of Black Label, using slightly peatier whisky and more heavily charred casks. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is slightly smoky and almost medicinal, with vanilla, a little tar, a touch of barbecue sauce, citrus and malt. The palate is creamy and full-bodied, with a malty core, peat smoke, soft wood smoke, salty butter and custard. The finish is long, with malt, boiled sweets, black pepper and cool smoke.
