Johnnie Walker Premier 1820 is a blended Scotch whisky in a 75cl bottle, bottled at 43% ABV. It was put together from long-aged malts held in the Johnnie Walker stocks, some of them from distilleries that are now silent.
The blend takes its inspiration from Sir Alexander Walker's handwritten notes. In the glass it is a red copper colour, with an oily texture.
The nose opens with a sweetness close to bourbon, and with a little water brings dried fruit, raisins and caramel, with vanilla, barley and oak behind. The palate is big and warming, with rich oak, spice, sherried sweetness, toffee and ginger. The finish is long, ending on black pepper, ginger, oak and toffee.
