Kilchoman – 13 Years Old Limited Edition (70cl, 50%)

This is a 13-year-old Kilchoman from Islay, bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle as a limited release. It was matured in a combination of bourbon barrels, octaves and Calvados casks. The ex-bourbon casks make up a large part of the vatting, while the Calvados casks add green apple and fresh fruit. Juicy fruit, intense sweetness and waves of Islay maritime peat smoke run through it. The nose is fragrant and delicate, with fresh pineapple, hibiscus and lemon sherbet. The palate is herbaceous, with dried apple granola, caramelised puffed wheat and buttered popcorn. The finish is light and graceful, with orchard fruit and zesty freshness.
