A 14 year old Islay single malt from Kilchoman, one of two 14 year old expressions released to mark 20 years of the distillery. It was distilled in 2011 and bottled at 55%, with phenols of around 20ppm.
The whisky matured for its full 14 years in five first-fill ex-sherry butts. A total of 3,145 bottles were released worldwide.
The nose is fresh and spicy, with barbecue smoke, black pepper and dried fruit. On the palate come warming spices and dried dates, balanced by dark chocolate and herbal liquorice. The finish is long, with sweet spices, barbecued meats and gentle peat smoke.
