Kilchoman – 6 Year Old New Oak Finished Single Cask 18/233 (70cl, 57.1%)

This is a six year old Kilchoman single cask from Islay, distilled in 2018 and bottled at 57.1% in a 70cl bottle. It is a Small Markets bottling in a heavily peated style, at 50PPM, with 291 bottles released. The whisky spent five years in a fresh STR red wine hogshead, a cask that was shaved, toasted and re-charred. It was then finished for more than a year in a Carpathian oak cask. The distillery describes a nose of ripe summer fruits, peach and lemon zest with toffee-like sweetness. The palate brings butterscotch, fresh oak, black pepper and a touch of brine, and the finish is delicate citrus with gentle coastal peat smoke.
