Kilchoman – Coull Point (70cl, 46%)

Coull Point is a travel retail bottling from Kilchoman on Islay, named after the headland north of Machir Bay. It is bottled at 46%, non-chill-filtered and without added colouring, in a 70cl bottle. Malts of four and five years old, matured in fresh ex-bourbon barrels, are married together. The four-year-old part had a four-week finish in Oloroso sherry butts beforehand. The malted barley has a phenol level of 50 ppm. The nose is strongly peaty, with vanilla, apple, malt and green fruit. Sweet peat, vanilla and honey meet soot and spice on the palate. The long finish leaves ash, smoke, peat and coffee.
