Kilchoman Inaugural Release was the first single malt from the Islay distillery, founded in 2005, and it came out in 2009. This one is in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky spent three years in former bourbon casks from Buffalo Trace, then five months in ex-oloroso sherry casks from Spain. It is non-chill-filtered and pleasantly oily.
The nose is peaty and smoky, with dark fruit, raisins and caramel. The finish is long and direct.
