Kilchoman – Loch Gorm 2023 Sherry Cask Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 46%)

The 2023 edition of Kilchoman's annual Loch Gorm, a limited release named after the dark, peaty loch the distillery overlooks. It is the distillery's only regular expression matured entirely in oloroso sherry casks, and comes in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV. The edition is a vatting of 22 casks: eight distilled in 2013, six in 2014 and eight in 2015. Together they give a balance of rich fruit, Kilchoman peat smoke and citrus sweetness. The nose has cacao, leather, black cherry and light smoke. The palate offers roasted hazelnuts, dark chocolate and roasted dark fruits, giving way to light ashy peat. The finish is balanced and long, with a fresh sea breeze note.
