This is the 2025 edition of Machir Bay Cask Strength, an Islay single malt from Kilchoman. It is matured in bourbon and sherry casks and bottled at 58.1% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with no colour added.
It is a deep gold. The nose is bold and smoky, with vanilla and caramel from the bourbon casks, citrus and tropical fruit, and floral and mineral touches. The palate is full, with creamy malt sweetness set against maritime peat smoke, fresh and candied citrus, toffee and light spice. The finish is long, the smoke giving way to vanilla, toasted coconut and a soft saline note.
