Kilchoman – Rockside 11 Year Old Ex-Bourbon & Ex-Sherry Casks (70cl, 46%)

Rockside 11 is Kilchoman's first single farm single malt with an age statement in its core range. The barley was first sown on Rockside Farm on Islay in 2004 and is floor-malted on site to 20 ppm, lighter than the 50 ppm malt used for Machir Bay and Sanaig. The whisky spends eleven years in a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtering or added colouring. The nose brings orange, lemon peel, elderflower and honey with maritime smoke. The palate offers citrus and tropical fruit, barley sugar and toffee apple, with salted caramel and gentle peat smoke. The finish holds juicy citrus and stone fruit, with butterscotch and walnut.
