Kilkerran – Work In Progress 2 (70cl, 46%)

This is Work In Progress 2 from Kilkerran, a lightly peated Campbeltown single malt aged six years, in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV. It was bottled in 2010, and the distillery had begun distilling again in 2004 after a thorough renovation. The release was limited to 18,000 bottles worldwide. The nose is light and fragrant, with fresh citrus, hints of pear and a touch of sorbet. Sweet vanilla fills the palate first, before the classic Campbeltown saltiness arrives, along with creamy toffee and butterscotch. The finish brings soft smoke and pleasant spice.
