Killowen – Peated Rum & Raisin Single Malt Irish Whiskey

Killowen Peated Rum & Raisin is an Irish single malt from one of Ireland's smallest distilleries. It was distilled in small batches on two handmade stills fitted with worm tub condensers, and matured first in oak casks. The finish comes from Pedro Ximénez butts and Killowen's own dark rum cask, a pairing that joins Caribbean warmth to Irish smoke. The nose is lightly smoky, with fresh apple juice, molasses and spiced fruit cake. On the palate there are juicy green apples, brown sugar, raisins, sultanas and figs, with smoke and dark rum in balance. The long finish brings caramelised demerara sugar, candied apples and a soft trace of smoke.
