A peated single malt from Killowen in County Down, Northern Ireland, bottled at 55%. It was matured in bourbon casks, then finished in Killowen's own rum cask and a PX sherry butt. The distillery was founded in 2019 by Brendan and Victoria Carty.
The nose opens with toasted peat smoke, dark raisins, brown sugar and candied fruit, with baked banana, coconut and molasses behind. The palate is full, warm and oily, with smoke first, then figs, raisins, caramelised sugar, vanilla, rum, cinnamon and light pepper. The finish is long, with peat smoke, dark chocolate and rum sweetness.
