Killowen – Rum & Raisin Irish Single Malt

This is an Irish single malt from Killowen, one of the smallest distilleries in Ireland. It sits in the Mourne Mountains in the south of County Down, Northern Ireland, and was founded by Brendan Carty. The whisky is distilled in small batches in copper pot stills. After maturing in selected oak casks, it was finished first in a former dark rum cask and then in a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask. The rum cask adds a Caribbean note, while the sherry cask brings sweeter tones.
