Kongens Whisky Filliers Distillery 3 Years Old Sherry Cask (50cl, 54%)

Kongens Whisky is a tribute to Denmark's new king, Frederik X, bottled on 14 January in the hours before his coronation. It is a three-year-old Belgian single malt from Filliers Distillery, a family business since 1880, made from Belgian malted barley and double distilled in a copper pot still. It spent its last four months in a sherry cask before being bottled at 54% ABV in a 500ml bottle, with a label made from sugar cane. The nose is gentle and soft. The palate is malty with deep vanilla and cask notes, leading to a long, sweet finish of caramel and English biscuits, with hints of chocolate, sweet raisins and fudge.
