Lagavulin 12 Year Old Special Release 2024 is an Islay single malt from the Lagavulin Distillery, released under the name Fireside Tales. It is a limited edition in Diageo's annual Special Release collection.
The whisky was matured in a combination of first-fill ex-bourbon and refill casks. It is bright gold in colour and medium-bodied.
The nose combines peat smoke and sea brine with pineapple, mango, vanilla and coconut. On the palate, bonfire smoke and charred oak meet custard and toffee, with lemon zest, honey, cinnamon and clove. The finish is long and ashy, with iodine, tobacco and a lasting caramel sweetness.
