Lagavulin 12 Year Old The Ink of Legends is an Islay single malt from Diageo's Special Releases 2023, bottled at 56.4% in a 70cl bottle. After 12 years of maturation it was finished in Don Julio Añejo tequila casks. It forms part of the Spirited Xchange collection, built around cultural exchange, cask exploration and artist-led packaging.
The nose combines medicinal hints, herbal smoke, driftwood bonfire and maritime notes, with dark fruit emerging when water is added. The palate is creamy and mouth-filling, sweet and citrus-like at first, then salt, juicy plum and growing smoke. The finish is long, salty and smoky, with a light meatiness.
