Lagavulin 16 Year Old is an Islay single malt, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It spends 16 years maturing in oak casks, which gives the peat and smoky undertones time to develop.
The colour is amber. Ash, sea air, smoke and seaweed lead the nose, with a little vanilla, spice, malt and sherry. The palate is peaty, sweet and salty, with ash, spicy oak, grass and a touch of coffee. The finish is long and intense, with sea breeze and smoke.
