This is an eight year old Islay single malt from Lagavulin, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It was released to mark 200 years since John Johnston founded the distillery in 1816, and it is a limited edition.
The age was inspired by Alfred Barnard's visit to the distillery in the 1880s, when he tried an eight year old he called 'exceptionally fine'.
The nose is smoky, with fragrant, tea-scented smoke and maritime aromas that open up with a drop of water. The body is light at first and turns pleasantly oily, with a full Lagavulin flavour on the palate.
