This is a Lagavulin Distillers Edition from the Islay distillery, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV. The single malt was distilled in 1991 and matured until 2007.
Its distinguishing step was an extra finish in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, which adds a sweetness to the heavily smoky character of the spirit.
The nose brings peat smoke, dark chocolate and dried fruit and nuts. The palate is full-bodied, with spicy and sweet notes, leading to a long, warm finish.
