Lagavulin Offerman Edition Charred Oak Cask is an 11 year old Islay single malt, the third release in Lagavulin's collaboration with the actor Nick Offerman. It was released in October 2022 and is bottled at 46% (92 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
The heavily peated spirit was matured in American white oak and European oak casks that previously held bourbon, scotch or red wine. The cask interiors were shaved and re-charred before filling. Offerman conceived it as a whisky to drink with a medium rare ribeye.
Peat smoke leads the nose, with vanilla, red berries, sea salt and char. The palate is smoky and full bodied, and the finish is long and spicy.
