This is a ten-year-old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, bottled at 40% ABV. The malted barley is first cold-smoked and then dried over a peat fire, and the smoke from Islay peat gives the whisky its rich, distinctive flavour.
It is known as a peated whisky with a full body. On the palate it is oily and smoky, followed by a hint of seaweed and a surprising sweetness, and it carries into a long finish.
