Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 017 is an Islay single malt bottled in 2023 at 58.3%, undiluted from the cask, in a 70cl bottle.
It matured for 10 years in American bourbon casks and sherry casks. The barley is dried over peat fires, and part of the malting is done at the distillery with hand-turned barley.
The nose is intense smoke and peat with leather, tobacco and fresh heather. The palate is powerful, with leather and tobacco balanced by honey, roasted nuts and creamy vanilla. The finish is long and warming, with persistent peat, honey and vanilla.
