This is Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength, Batch 017, a single malt matured in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled in 2023 at 58.3% ABV. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
The nose combines candied apples, crème brûlée, sugared pastries, peat smoke, heather and sea salt, with vanilla cream, pears in syrup and cooling menthol. The palate brings stewed apples, pears, nuttiness, crisp seaweed, peppery spice and a medicinal edge, with mint and dense oak.
The finish is very long, with prickly black pepper, sweet grassy smoke and tarry peat, ending in dry, slightly papery oak.
