This is a 10 year old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, the distillery on the south coast of the island. After its time in the usual casks it was finished for over 12 months in Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 48% ABV. It is offered in a 75cl bottle.
The peaty character of the classic Laphroaig 10 Year Old is still there, with dark chocolate and maple syrup notes added by the sherry. The taste is bold and smoky, with a hint of seaweed and an unexpected sweetness, and the finish is long.
