Laphroaig 10 Year Old Sherry Oak Finish is an Islay single malt, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured first in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished in casks seasoned with Oloroso sherry.
The distillery's medicinal peat smoke, iodine and sea spray stay at the centre, while the sherry adds dried fruit, spice and a touch of dark chocolate.
The nose combines peat smoke with raisins, dates and orange peel. On the palate, earthy peat and sea salt sit beside dried figs, treacle and roasted nuts. The finish is long and gently spiced, with clove and nutmeg fading to coastal brine.
