This is Batch 14 of Laphroaig's 10 year old Cask Strength, an Islay single malt from 2021. It matured in ex-bourbon casks, is barrier-filtered and is bottled at its natural distillery strength of 58.6% ABV.
The notes describe a rich peat smoke with some sweetness and strong maritime character once water is added.
The nose is a full peaty tone with a touch of seaweed and subtle vanilla. On the palate come peat flavours over a lightly sweet undertone, gaining intensity and warmth. The finish is long, with a full-bodied fade.
