This is Batch 12, from 2020, of the Laphroaig 10 Years Old Cask Strength, an Islay single malt matured in ex-bourbon casks. It is bottled at its natural distillery strength of 60.1%, in a 70cl bottle.
Adding water releases a rich aroma of peat smoke, with some sweetness and strong maritime notes.
The nose is fresh and strong, medicinal and smoky, with seaweed and slightly sweet notes. The palate is full-bodied and strongly smoky, followed by a light sweetness. The finish is long and spicy.
