Laphroaig – 10 Years Old (70cl, 40%)

Laphroaig 10 Years Old is an Islay single malt from the distillery on the island's south coast. The barley is dried slowly over Islay peat fires, and the whisky matures for 10 years on the island in American oak casks that previously held bourbon. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The peat smoke sits alongside seaweed, salt, iodine and a medicinal edge, with a sweetness running through the palate and finish. The nose is peat smoke, seaweed and medicinal notes with a light sweetness. On the palate peat and smoke come first, then salt, vanilla and oak. The finish is very long, smoky, salty and sweet.
