Laphroaig – 10 Years Sherry Oak (70cl, 48%)

This is a 10 year old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It takes the distillery's familiar ten year old character and adds the sweetness of ex-Oloroso sherry casks. The result is described as full and intense, with manuka honey, bacon and maple syrup alongside classic smoke, seaweed and a touch of salt. On the nose it is sweet and peaty, with medicinal manuka honey and antiseptic lotion, then cloves, smoked bacon, leather, iodine and pine tar. The palate is sweet and rich, with wax and furniture polish, molasses toffee, maple syrup, dark chocolate, pine needles and cedar. The finish is long, with spicy chestnut honey and lingering antiseptic notes.
