This is an Islay single malt in a travel retail edition, matured for twelve years solely in American oak barrels. It is bottled at 46% without chill-filtration.
The American oak adds vanilla sweetness and soft wood notes, while peat smoke remains the leading element. Laphroaig was founded in 1815 on the south coast of Islay and is known for medicinal, iodine-like notes alongside maritime saltiness.
