Laphroaig 14 Year Old Willem Dafoe Limited Edition, also called Willem by Willem, is an Islay single malt made in collaboration between the actor Willem Dafoe and Laphroaig Senior Whisky Maker Sarah Dowling. Dafoe chose it himself in a blind tasting of several samples, with no tasting notes to guide him.
The whisky was matured in American oak bourbon casks, then finished in hand-selected Oloroso sherry casks. It is bottled at a cask strength of 53.7% ABV, without chill filtration.
The nose combines peat smoke, iodine and dark cherry. On the palate come caramel, dark dried fruit and black pepper, and the finish is long, with campfire smoke and sea salt.
