Laphroaig – 15 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

Laphroaig 15 Year Old is an Islay single malt from a distillery whose roots on the island go back to 1815. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The barley is malted over Laphroaig's own peat, and the whisky spends fifteen years in ex-bourbon casks. Part of the malting is done on the distillery's own floor, and the water comes from the Kilbride stream. The nose brings smoke, sea salt and coastal notes with vanilla, citrus and a light sweetness. The palate is bold and full-bodied, with smoke, sea salt, black pepper and warming spice. The finish is long, with smoke, maritime notes and gentle spice.
