This is a 23 year old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, distilled in 1991 and bottled in 2014 at cask strength. It matured in sherry casks and refill hogsheads, and the outturn was 5,000 bottles worldwide.
The nose offers toffee, caramel and fine spices, with the smoke of Islay present throughout. On the palate, dried fruit sits alongside pepper and peat. The finish is long, with a maritime saltiness and peat smoke.
