Laphroaig – 1997 25 Years Old Symington's Choice Signatory Vintage Cask Strength Collection (55.2%)

This is a single cask Laphroaig distilled in April 1997 and matured for 25 years in a bourbon hogshead. Signatory Vintage bottled it in October 2023 at cask strength, 55.2% ABV, with no added colour and no chill-filtering. It forms part of the first Symington's Choice release, a series of casks selected by Andrew Symington. The nose has carbon paper, old fabrics, camphor, tobacco, grilled oysters and a light citrus note. On the palate come salt water, smoke, liquorice, black pepper, menthol, olives, a hint of passion fruit and iodine. The finish is long and smoky, with herbal and coastal notes.
