This is the 2022 edition of Laphroaig's 25 year old, an Islay single malt bottled at a cask strength of 53.4% without dilution after maturation.
The whisky spent 25 years in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. It has a pale gold colour.
The nose is restrained, with smoke, sweet vanilla, wood spice, smoked bacon and a hint of dried fruit. On the palate it is layered and creamy, with pepper, iodine and peat smoke alongside green apple. The finish is long, with waves of smoke and a peppery close.
