This is a Laphroaig 25 Year Old Cask Strength Edition, bottled in 2014 at 45.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It matured in bourbon and Oloroso sherry barrels.
The nose offers orchard fruit and sherried raisins over barley, sea salt, sea spray and menthol, with a tiny hint of peat and a trace of TCP and iodine. The palate is silky, with chewy barley, barley sugar, raisins and briny peat, and a touch of oak and cinnamon at the very end.
The finish is long, with cigar ash, briny peat and summer orchard fruit, the fruity sweetness balancing the smoke.
