This is an independent bottling of Laphroaig, aged 27 years, from Elixir Distillers. It belongs to the Director's Special series of The Single Malts of Scotland and is bottled at 51.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The whisky matured for 27 years in a single first-fill bourbon barrel, and the release is limited to 210 bottles. The nose is typically described as subtle smokiness, fresh fruit, spice, mint, mineral notes and wood. The palate has an oily texture, with sweet exotic fruit alongside elegant peat, tobacco and oak. The finish is medium in length, warming, spicy and smoky.
